As an (important) part of its policy to promote digital resilience, the Municipality of The Hague has been organising an annual hacking event together with cybersecurity company Cybersprint since 2017: Hâck The Hague. An open and transparent event, held in the Atrium of the town hall, where ethical hackers are challenged in a controlled manner to test the digital security of the systems of the municipality and her suppliers.
However, the hacking event is just one part of a bigger picture. It requires the necessary preparations within the organisation itself so that vulnerabilities in websites and systems found during the event can be properly followed up and resolved.

Als (belangrijk) onderdeel van haar beleid ter bevordering van digitale weerbaarheid, organiseert gemeente Den Haag sinds 2017 samen met cybersecuritybedrijf Cybersprint jaarlijks een hack-evenement: Hâck The Hague. The Hague, 27 September 2021 – Today the digital infrastructure of the municipality of The Hague was scrutinised by 206 ethical national and international hackers. Among the 125 reported vulnerabilities were; unsafe access to accounts, outdated software, the ability to inject malicious code into a website and an account that could be taken over completely.
